ORLANDO – Jackie Allen isn’t about to sprain her elbow while patting herself on the back – a la the always controversial and self-promoting LaVar Ball – but for years she has told anyone who would listen that her son, Jonathan Isaac, would play in the NBA.
Late Thursday night, after Isaac had been selected with the No. 6 pick in the NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic and the once-upon-a-time dream had become reality, mother and son shared a tearful, highly emotional moment behind the scenes at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
``Well, I always knew that he was going to make it and I never had a doubt,’’ Allen said on Friday following her son’s introductory news conference with the Magic.
