The Orlando Magic's coach and the front office last season were sometimes at odds over whether Elfrid Payton can be the club's point guard of the future.
Former coach Scott Skiles wasn't always on board with Payton. GM Rob Hennigan is a fan, but then Hennigan moved up in the 2014 draft to snag Payton. He stuck his neck out for EP.
Hennigan believes the kid with the unruly hair will get his game together.
Skiles is gone, and the depth of Hennigan's commitment to Payton could be revealed this offseason with options available in the draft, free agency and trades.
