Over the last nine games, the Orlando Magic rank No. 1 in the NBA in second chance points (16.4 per game) and No. 2 in offensive rebounding (12.0).
Prior to February’s trade that brought Terrence Ross (and a 2017 first round draft pick) to Orlando for Serge Ibaka, the Magic ranked 20th in second chance scoring and 17th in offensive rebounding.
Some might scratch their heads and not understand how it’s possible to go small and still be terrific on the glass.
Well, there are a few reasons to help explain it.
For one, the lane is less clogged and the Magic’s perimeter players have more opportunity to compete for rebounds.
