Latvia’s dream run through Eurobasket came to a thudding end Friday afternoon.
There was a nice finish. Plenty of optimism for the future with some of the young players and veterans on the squad. But ultimately no trip to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament and nothing to show for it but the bitter taste of two blowout losses to finish it.
The Czech Republic outscored Latvia 52-22 in the second and third quarters to take an easy 97-80 win in the Seventh Place Game at Eurobasket, claiming the last spot in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament next summer.
The Czech Republic won the game by controlling the glass in those key moments.
