Luke Ridnour’s biggest impact on the Orlando Magic during the 2014-15 season may have occurred off the court, in conversations with rookie point guard Elfrid Payton and second-year guard Victor Oladipo.
Ridnour consistently offered Payton and Oladipo advice and feedback — even during games — and Ridnour’s selflessness smoothed Payton’s transition to the NBA and helped Oladipo with playing the point guard position before the team moved Oladipo to shooting guard a couple of months into the season.
“Luke has so much knowledge,” Payton said during the season. “He’s always there, always giving me and telling us helpful hints and things to do, things to look for on the court and how to beat certain defenses.
