NEW YORK — Elfrid Payton accomplished a personal goal when the Orlando Magic concluded their season Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets.
Payton played in his 82nd game of the regular season, becoming the first Magic rookie to play every game of a season since Dwight Howard in 2004-05. Payton also became the first Magic player to appear in every game of a season since Howard, J.J. Redick and Jason Williams did so in 2009-10.
"A rookie point guard is very difficult to incorporate into a team at this level, but he's done a great job," interim Magic coach James Borrego said before tipoff.
