Last year’s hire of Scott Skiles by the Orlando Magic came with its share of criticisms. Many assumed Skiles would be a bridge coach for two, maybe three years, to get this young Magic roster over the hump and into the playoff as has been his reputation in previous stops.
But no one could have forecasted Skiles’ shocking resignation just one year into the job.
Since his resignation there has been much speculation on the reason for such a sudden departure. Many have pointed to a difference of opinion on personnel as the reason for his departure — specifically the development of Elfrid Payton.
