Brian Schmitz: Magic's youth movement takes hold

Sounds impossible for the Magic to actually get younger, like Benjamin Button, who aged in reverse.

However, before the season-opener against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night, coach Scott Skiles mentioned that he toyed with starting Mario Hezonja, 20, at small forward.

That would have brought the collective starting age of the Magic's starting five to, oh, that of the boy band One Direction.

The kiddie club has vowed not to use its limited time on Earth as an excuse, a good thing since Skiles doesn't have many veteran options. Against the run-and-gun Wizards, the Magic's oldest player, Channing Frye, 32, sat the bench to watch the track meet.
