Bob Vander Weide rekindles passion for Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic will very likely have a new season-ticket holder this season.

You may have heard of him.

Bob Vander Weide.

That guy. Former CEO whose stewardship led the Magic to seven 50-win seasons, five division titles, two Eastern Conference crowns, two NBA Finals appearances and 13 playoff berths.

Most folks would get a gold watch and other fabulous perks for that. Vander Weide was shown his way out the door.

He resigned in December 2011, forced out as his marriage unraveled. The messy circumstances led to a divorce from both the team and his wife, Cheri, daughter of Magic owner Rich DeVos.
