NEW ORLEANS – In what proved to be an incredibly cruel twist of fate, D.J. Augustin and his family were forced out of New Orleans and away from his beloved Brother Martin High School by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the promising point guard had to finish his senior year at a high school in southeast Texas.
Hightower High’s nickname in Missouri City, Texas? The Hurricanes.
Augustin’s heart and spirit, however, never left New Orleans and Brother Martin High, a private Catholic school that he attended from the time he was a 14-year-old eighth grader to that fateful day in 2005 when the Augustin family had to evacuate to Texas.
