Adrian Griffin leaving Magic for Thunder

The Orlando Magic suffered a blow to their assistant-coaching search Thursday, when Adrian Griffin reached a deal in principle with the Oklahoma City Thunder to become the Thunder's lead assistant coach.

Griffin served as the Magic's lead assistant coach under Scott Skiles last season, and new Magic coach Frank Vogel and front-office officials sought to retain Griffin for the same role.

"Adrian was a candidate to come back here as a lead, but I'm still in the process of making that decision," Vogel said. "He's pulled his name out of the running, so I'll continue with other candidates.
