The 1991-92 season was the third for the Orlando Magic as an NBA franchise. It was also the first season that Orlando won its opener.
That victory came on this day 30 years ago. In front of a sold-out Orlando Arena on Nov. 1, 1991, the Magic got the season started on the right foot with a 106-96 victory over the New York Knicks.
Under first-year head coach Pat Riley, the Knicks would have a solid season, but almost from the opening tip, the Magic controlled the opener. Orlando used a 9-0 run to take an early 13-6 lead and never trailed again.
