It was clear that the Orlando Magic swung and missed in free agency at the forward position. They wanted to find a consistent scoring option and had to settle for journeyman Jeff Green.
Although Green may not have been on the top of Orlando’s free-agent white board, he was expected to play a big role. With Aaron Gordon and Serge Ibaka playing the majority of minutes at forward, Green was looked at to bring a scoring punch off the bench.
On a one-year, $15-million deal, it was a prove-it year for Green.
