ORLANDO – Rushed judgments and preliminary conclusions happen way too often in professional sports. First impressions tend to last an eternity and patience runs thin.
But, right or wrong, those initial observations we have of players dictate our perspectives. When we see a player for the first time and he drops 35 points and 10 rebounds, we go gaga over his skills. When we see a player for the first time and he gets shut out (zero points, zero anything), we immediately start wondering how good he is or can be.
It’s unfair, usually.
However, sometimes it just simply makes sense and it’s okay to come to a hurried decision.
