The Orlando Magic made the first notable move of the NBA Trade Deadline, sending forward Tobias Harris to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Ersan Ilyasova and Brandon Jennings. While the Magic won't be dealing anymore of their young core, the latest Magic rumors indicate they might not be done making moves yet.
Magic General Manager Rob Hennigan told The Orlando Sentinel that the team will be holding onto the rest of the young core. That means Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon, Mario Hezonja, Victor Oladipo, Elfrid Payton and Nikola Vucevic will be staying in Orlando. He did qualify that by saying a blockbuster trade could change that, but it's highly unlikely such an offer happens.
But the team could still move aging power forward Channing Frye. He could intrigue a team looking for a stretch-four. He's under contract for the next two years.
The addition of Ilyasova, who has a similar game to that of Frye, could help facilitate that move. The team was trying to move Frye before getting Ilyasova. Adrian Wojnarowski reports the Clippers are in talks about trading for Frye, and that the Cavs are also interested.
