Orlando Magic interim head coach James Borrego is currently working under the assumption that he will be leading the team for the remainder of the 2014-15 NBA season as Jacque Vaughn's replacement.
“I can’t really do it any other way,” he said Wednesday night after the Magic went into the All-Star break on a winning note after an 89-83 win against the Knicks at Amway Center.
Borrego is 2-2 so far as Vaughn's replacement, and barring a Sacramento Kings/George Karl situation, appears poised to ride out the remaining 26 games as the man in charge.

As Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel points out, "if ownership had decided on a permanent replacement for Vaughn, it essentially would have had to make the move now or have a hire already in place, which is unlikely."
Borrego says he hasn't heard from the Magic front office one way or the other, so he is taking that lack of news as a sign that'll he remain as the team's head coach for the remainder of the campaign.
The team is currently scheduled to return to the practice court next Wednesday and then face the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday at home, so expect Borrego to lead the team into action when things get back underway in the middle of next week.
