Last August, Miami Hurricanes freshman safety Avantae Williams got the devastating news that he would not be able to participate in football activities due to a medical condition that was found by team doctors upon arrival in Coral Gables.
Down as he was at that point, it was a complete 180-degree flip in emotion when he learned he was medically cleared ahead of spring drills.
“It hurt me to not be out here with the guys,” said Williams on Tuesday in his first interview session with reporters since arriving at Miami, “but as soon as I got the news, I was ready to go.
