“We always have to own the ball,” FSU freshman Ja’Khi Douglas said. “In our meeting room, we all have a ball with us to make sure we’re owning the ball.”
The Seminoles have most recently built a solid ground game, producing a 1,000-yard rusher during six of the past seven seasons, including last year when Cam Akers rushed for 1,144 yards.
But a new coaching staff and a new offensive philosophy could provide more opportunities for the FSU backfield.
First-year coach Mike Norvell’s offense emphasizes getting the football into the hands of playmakers. That includes tailbacks, who could see a lot more opportunities as receivers this season.
