The Yankees are in serious trouble. The Bombers lost their fourth straight Monday night, falling 5-3 to the Angels to drop to just two games above .500 at 40-38. Aaron Boone’s pregame exhortation that “our season is on the line” apparently didn’t connect.
“I’m disappointed,” Boone said afterward. “It’s frustrating that we couldn’t mount much late. It’s certainly frustrating coming off a tough weekend.”
“We’re just collectively, as a group, not performing the way we should,” Giancarlo Stanton said, while noting that it’s “not fair” to pin the Yankees’ miserable first half on Boone. “We’re doing the work, we just have to alter some things and be able to put it out there on the field.
