When Damian Priest was a fresh-faced wrestling trainee in 2004, he competed in a tag-team match on a small football field in front of a small handful of people. One of his opponents was a young Irishman known as Sheamus O’Shaunessy.
Seventeen years later, Priest and O’Shaunessy (who is now simply called Sheamus) are embroiled in one of the highest-profile feuds on WWE’s flagship Monday Night Raw, and both figure to have a prime role when Raw comes to Amway Center on Monday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.
Priest told the Sentinel in a phone interview last week that Sheamus doesn’t remember that long-ago match, but as Sheamus quickly rose through the ranks to WWE championships, Priest was eager to follow the same path and fight him again.
