There were barely any matches last week because of the international break. I covered the past two weeks instead. All of the players who played in Sweden — Ali Riley, Emily Sonnett, and Phoebe McClernon — should be returning home as the Damallsvenskan season has ended.
Alex Morgan and Sonnett played for the United States Women's National Team on Friday. The pair helped the U.S. to a 2-0 win over the Netherlands. Both came on as substitutes. This was Morgan’s first game for the national team since the 2019 World Cup final. While Morgan’s return was a big talking point of the match, just as big has been Portland Thorns forward Sophia Smith and Florida State midfielder Jaelin Howell making their first caps.
