Defending state champion Winter Springs had four of the top six girls finishers to cruise to the team title in Saturday morning’s Class 3A, Region 2 girls cross country meet at Lake Region High School.
Bears junior Caroline Wells remained undefeated for the season with a winning time of 17 minutes, 27.5 seconds. That put her well ahead of Harmony junior Alanie Rivera (18:45.7) and teammate Evie McIver (18:56.6).
The top four teams in each region race qualify for the state meet, along with the top four “at-large” individuals from each region who are not on advancing teams.
