The undefeated Winter Springs junior ranks in the top 10 nationally with a best time of 16 minutes and 50.78 seconds and she has finished more than a minute ahead of the second-place runner in all five of her meets.
But Wells hasn’t been all alone when it’s not race-day. She has a team around her that is favored to earn the Bears' second consecutive Class 3A state championship on Sunday in Tallahassee. “Sometimes I have to separate the girls into groups of two for practice because they’re comedians,” veteran Winter Springs coach Ocky Clark said last week.
