For a second consecutive week, Winter Park overcame a slow start to pull away for a comfortable high school football victory on Friday night.
The Wildcats (3-1), ranked No. 12 in the Sentinel Super 16, trailed host Lake Nona 7-6 at halftime. Winter Park would take advantage of six turnovers committed by the Lions (2-2) in the second half — including a pair of safeties on consecutive drives in the third quarter — to win 31-7.
“First half, (Lake Nona) dominated us up front. We struggled finishing drives and getting points where we needed to,” Winter Park coach Tim Shifflet said.
