Fanbo Zeng, the 6-foot-9 Chinese basketball phenom who starred for Windermere Prep as a ninth and tenth grader, plans to bypass college basketball at Gonzaga and jump right into professional play.
Zeng plans to join the NBA’s G League Ignite team, which is operated by the NBA and designed to prepare prospects for the NBA Draft and pro success.
“He was actually offered a big deal to play in the Chinese Basketball Association,” said Windermere Prep coach Brian Hoff, who has stayed in close contact with Zeng. “He just turned 18 and it’s not unusual in their system for guys that age to go pro.
