The Evans versus West Orange season opener scheduled for Thursday night was canceled because of five positive COVID-19 cases within the Evans program. The cases resulted in quarantining the entire team, including coaches and trainers, according to an OCPS.
“In an effort to keep you informed, due to positive COVID cases which resulted in quarantines among the Evans High School football team, tomorrow’s game scheduled against West Orange High School has been cancelled,” OCPS wrote in a message to parents to employees. “This decision was made in consultation with the Florida Department of Health in Orange County.”
OCPS stated in a separate press release that “all individuals and parents of students who have been identified as having been in close contact with a positive case have been notified by school administration and the Department of Health contact tracing has been completed.
