K’Nari Holliday finished with 21 points and eight rebounds for Wekiva on Tuesday during a 65-53 victory at home against Daytona Beach Mainland in a Class 6A Region 1 girls basketball semifinal.
The Mustangs (22-3) pressured Mainland (20-3) into submission in a rematch of a district championship won by Wekiva 69-55 on Feb. 5.
Wekiva, ranked No. 3 in 6A by MaxPreps, plays the winner of Wednesday night’s Navarre vs. Gainesville Buchholz game Thursday night in a region final.
The Mustangs opened the night with a 12-0 run, getting seven turnovers during that spurt. Wekiva focused most of its zone defense on stopping Mainland senior guard Isys Grady, who finished with 18 points.
