VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Where have all the Vancouver Whitecaps supporters gone?
On the eve of the 2020 MLS season opener where Vancouver is set to face Sporting Kansas City at B.C. Place, the stakes couldn’t feel higher for the club. Not only do the Whitecaps need to win on the field — they need to win fans back.
The club has only sold 8,800 season tickets Whitecaps CEO Mark Pannes told reporters Friday. That is a 17% drop in season tickets sold year-over-year, according to figures provided by the club.
“Tickets are available and I’m not use to that,” Pannes said.
