VANCOUVER, British Columbia — The Vancouver Whitecaps will open the MLS season on Saturday night against Sporting Kansas City at BC Place. The first match of the 2020 campaign provides an opportunity for Vancouver to see how strong its back line will be.
The departure of Canadian international Doneil Henry has left a void in defense. Henry brought leadership, accountability and energy to a young Whitecaps back line last season.
When Vancouver lines up against Sporting KC, they’re expected to debut in a 4-2-3-1 formation featuring defenders Ali Adnan, Derek Cornelius, Jasser Khmiri, and Jake Nerwinski.
