U.S. women’s national team players have decided to stand as a group for the national anthem after several months of kneeling in protest.
Players said they remain focused on using their platform to combat systemic racism in their sport and communities.
The entire national team — including star Megan Rapinoe, who first began kneeling in 2016 — stood for the anthem ahead of Sunday’s SheBelieves Cup match against Brazil in Orlando.
“We never felt we were going to kneel forever,” defender Crystal Dunn said. “There was always going to be a time that we felt it was time to stand.
