ORLANDO, Fla. — The U.S. women’s national team brought a dominant energy to first match of the SheBelieves Cup, beating England 2-0 at Exploria Stadium Thursday night.
The Americans took an aggressive stand in their first rematch with England since the semifinals of the 2019 FIFA World Cup, firing more than 20 shots on their way to the win.
The game marked the 100th cap for midfielder Julie Ertz, who has won two World Cups with the Americans.
The English defense was short-handed for the match without rightback Lucy Bronze after the star suffered a calf injury, forcing her to miss her first international match in five years.
