Matt Weitzel began playing competitive tennis at age 10, but by the time he reached 30, the sport had faded into the past.
The arrival of the state-of-the-art USTA National Campus down the road from his Lake Nona home rekindled Weitzel’s love of the game, providing exercise, stress relief and social interaction.
The coronavirus shutdown of the facility on March 14 forced Weitzel, like the rest of the world, to recalibrate and change routines. Monday’s scheduled re-opening will be a welcome relief for the 39-year-old.
“It totally changed my life not having tennis,” Weitzel said Wednesday.
