Jake Edwards is imagining the world of soccer in the U.S. in 2026, when the World Cup comes to North America.
He sees the country littered with soccer-specific stadiums. He sees communities big and small – ranging from Queens, New York to Louisville, Kentucky to Statesboro, Georgia – having professional soccer clubs to call their own. He sees all of their games being easy to watch, either on television or online. And he sees budding prospects and senior national team players from around the globe playing for those teams.
The reality is, much of this already exists in the league that Edwards is the president of, the USL Championship.
