Ben DeLuca, the Bishop Moore safety who went on to big things and the University of Charlotte, sat through the NFL draft this weekend hoping to hear his name. Prior to the event, however, DeLuca had already made up his mind. If he was drafted, great. If he was not drafted, it wasn’t going to have a significant impact on him.
DeLuca went undrafted after 259 players heard their phones ring this weekend, but the 6-foot-1, 215-pound DeLuca wasn’t concerned. It will just push him harder, the same way many things have pushed him throughout his career.
“It’s just one of those things that’s kinda out of your hands and so you just have to trust God and trust that you’re going to go where you need to go,” DeLuca said.
