Oviedo’s defending state champion girls bowling team kept its two-year unbeaten streak going while winning Monday’s District 7 tournament championship.
Oviedo’s girls qualifying round total of 2,589 was only third best behind Hagerty (2,734) and Lake Howell (2,689) but the Lions excelled in the afternoon Baker System playoffs with victories vs. Lake Howell 3-0, Lyman 3-0 and Hagerty 3-1.
Oviedo senior Brendan Carney bowled games of 220, 211 and 234 to win the individual title with a 664 total.
Hagerty, as the district runner-up, will join Oviedo at the FHSAA state tournament, which will be played next Tuesday through Thursday, Nov.
