GAINESVILLE — Florida quarterback Kyle Trask did not take home the Heisman Trophy to punctuate a record-setting season with the Gators.
A fairy-tale ending to Trask’s was not meant to be, but the quarterback didn’t need the award to feel content about his unexpected success during the past two seasons at UF.
Trask lost out to record-setting Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith, the first player at his position to win the award since Michigan’s Desmond Howard in 1991.
“Just to be part of this is truly a blessing,” Smith said during the Heisman ceremony Tuesday night.
