Tre Nixon knew something wasn’t right a few seconds after he landed on the turf at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Moments earlier, UCF quarterback Dillon Gabriel fired a dart of a pass to the standout receiver, who caught the football over his shoulder in the end zone with a Georgia Tech defender coming down on his back. Nixon landed hard on the ground and for several moments he remained crouched on the field, unable to celebrate the 25-yard touchdown — his second of the game — with his teammates.
“I went down and felt a sharp pain in my chest area and initially I thought I got the wind knocked out of me,” Nixon said of the play that happened late in the second quarter of the Knights’ opener on Sept.
