UCF commit Zyin Thomas, a defensive end from Delray Beach Atlantic High, was shocked by the news head coach Josh Heupel leaving to take the Tennessee job.
“Say that again? He’s transferring to a different school? ... I didn’t know that,” Thomas said during a phone call Thursday night, a full day after Heupel was introduced as the new Vols coach. “Nobody told me about that, but no, that doesn’t concern me.”
Regardless of the shocking news, Thomas, a 6-foot-2, 260-pound defensive tackle, said he still plans to sign with the Knights on Wednesday when the second National Signing Day period for football begins.
