The uncertainty due to the coronavirus pandemic has seeped into just about every level of the UCF football program, including recruiting.
When the NCAA mandated a dead period for recruiting in March, coaches had to replace in-person visits with virtual ones. FaceTime, Zoom and Skype quickly took the place of an in-house visit or an on-campus tour, with those same coaches forced to rely on video conferencing and game tape to scout potential prospects.
“We’ve been dealing with it for a long time whether that’s 10 months we’ve been on Zoom calls with recruits,” secondary coach Willie Martinez said.
