There’s a brief pause from Kalia Davis as the UCF redshirt senior defensive tackle takes a moment to point to a banner hanging on the wall of Nicholson Fieldhouse.
“I think we got a chance to make it say 2021 up there,” said Davis when asked about the expectations heading into the season. “We’ve got a chance to get another ring. We’ve got all the pieces we must execute. We’ve got a top-tier coaching staff; we’ve got top-tier players. And now we’ve just got to put it all together.”
It’s been two seasons since UCF claimed its last American Athletic Conference title in 2018, but after falling short in 2019 and finishing a disappointing 6-4 in 2020, things have taken quite the turn.
