Early in his first full UCF football season, there was a strong misconception center Matthew Lee was struggling.
Despite penalties and issues with defenses imitating quarterback Dillon Gabriel’s cadence and snap count, Lee was doing quite well. Unfortunately, when a center is saddled with numerous false-start penalties, fans and media tend to jump to conclusions.
“What’s crazy is when you’re an offensive lineman, especially a center, nobody ever sees anything that you’re doing good. They always see the bad snaps or the penalties,” UCF offensive line coach Glen Elarbee said. “He played really, really good all year long.
