Appalachian State running back Darrynton Evans saw other running backs selected during the first and second rounds of the NFL draft, but 29 picks into the third round, he finally got the phone call he was waiting for.
The Tennessee Titans made the former New Smyrna Beach star the No. 93 overall pick of the draft and the the ninth running back selected.
Evans had several in-person interviews set up with NFL teams, but once the coronavirus pandemic shut down in-person contact in mid-March, Evans was only able to visit one team. That team, coincidently, was the Titans, who obviously figured they could use a speedy, pass-catching running back to compliment All-Pro Derrick Henry.
