The Orlando Pride announced this morning the hiring of their newest head coach. Marc Skinner, former Birmingham City Women F.C. boss, will be the Pride’s second-ever head coach heading into the 2019 NWSL season.
Skinner started his coaching career as a technical director for Birmingham City’s youth Centre of Excellence, where he spent seven years, as well as serving as Birmingham’s reserve team manager and first-team goalkeeper coach. The 35-year-old was named the head coach of the club’s women’s team in December 2016. His first campaign in charge was a shortened 2017 spring season, which saw the league transition from a summer schedule to the traditional winter schedule, and Birmingham City finished seventh of the nine teams with seven points (1-3-4).
