The Matildas continued their unbeaten run with a 2-1 win over Brazil today in Australia. Steph Catley and Alanna Kennedy both started for The Matildas as they took on Pride teammates Marta and Monica (DNP).
Brazil started brightly but Australia should have scored inside ten minutes with Caitlin Foord heading wide from point-blank range following a miscued shot from Sam Kerr.
Australia looked the more likely to score in the first period and their pressure eventually told with De Vanna firing the hosts ahead with a spectacular strike just before the break. Caitlin Foord missed a great chance to double the Matildas’ lead just after the break with the keeper denying her from close range.
