After being sidelined for two weeks due to lower back pain, reigning Class 1A girls golf state champion Jieming “Cissy” Yang of The First Academy made quite the comeback on Monday.
Yang, a senior standout for TFA, shot a career-best 7-under-par 65 at Timacuan Golf and Country Club to win Class 1A Region 2 individual medalist honors and lead the undefeated Royals to the team title in the state’s highest-rated region.
TFA recorded a two-under 286 team score despite some windy conditions and late-round rain to top defending state champ Lake Mary Prep (298).
