It was a long time coming for the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes — not only to finally play a game after the “double bye” that a COVID-19 outbreak created — but because they haven’t had a convincing victory like the mauling they put on Duke since the 52-10 win over Florida State on Sept. 26.
Even with a slew of key players unavailable, especially depleting Miami’s defensive tackle and outside linebacker depth, the Hurricanes (8-1, 7-1 ACC) put together a well-rounded effort in their first shutout of a Power Five opponent since the 2001 team’s 59-0 win over Syracuse.
