The undefeated Jones High School football team will not open the Class 5A state playoffs with the home game it expected to play next Friday night.
Tampa Robinson (5-3), which was scheduled to play at Jones (6-0), had to quarantine its entire team after learning that one of its players tested positive for COVID-19 following its final regular season game on Friday. The player was taken to a Tampa hospital due to a knee injury and was tested for the coronavirus as a standard procedure.
“Our entire team was quarantined last night,” Robinson coach Craig Evert said in a phone interview with the Sentinel on Saturday night.
