The Tampa Bay Rowdies are looking at the upcoming FloridaCup as more than just preparation for United Soccer League preseason.
The Rowdies see the tournament featuring 12 international teams competing in Orlando, St. Petersburg and Lauderhill as an opportunity to showcase what the club can bring to the table since announcing it hopes to join Major League Soccer as an expansion franchise.
“Playing in the Florida Cup is a no-brainer,” said Nico Castillo, director of public relations for the Rowdies. “The tournament is going to broadcast live in over 140 countries, why wouldn’t we want our brand, our stadium and city to be showcased?
