The championship meet for the Florida High School Athletic Association’s new girls weightlifting classification will be contested at St. Cloud High School on Saturday.
The FHSAA expanded the sport from two divisions to three this year, with the state’s largest schools by enrollment moving into the new Class 3A.
That includes Dr. Phillips, which again has some of the strongest lifters in the Orlando area. The Panthers lineup includes senior Zamora St. Cyr, who is the top seed in the 139-pound weight class based on her regional performance. She bench pressed 170 pounds and hoisted the same weight overhead in the clean and jerk for a 340 total.
