Sporting Kansas City were in somewhat unfamiliar territory by the end of last season as they failed to clinch a playoff berth for the first time since 2010. Now head coach Peter Vermes is looking restore his side to its old formidable self after a busy offseason.
SKC spent the fall and winter adding depth to their back line, though the club’s biggest offseason acquisition was Mexican striker Alan Pulido, who finished the 2019 Liga MX Apertura as one of the league’s top two scorers.
Pulido will be expected to elevate Sporting’s already-powerful attack, which featured a plurality of creative scoring threats before the club went after the Mexican’s services in December.
